Al Azhar Park

Al Azhar Park was created on an area of 30 hectares in 1984, By the imam of the Ismaili Muslim community Karim Shah El Husseini, after deciding to dedicate a large garden to Cairo, Based on the Islamic belief that we are all responsible for the creativity of the Creator therefore we must make Earth a better place.

 

The project was designed with an amount of $ 30 million, and has become an example for studying the creative solutions to the many challenges facing the historical cities including overcoming the environmental component.

 

The Park work as a lung to the big city of Cairo and its location downtown historic district as it was clear that Cairo needed more green spaces. One study found that the percentage of green space in Cairo in very low that’s why Al Azhar Park was created to be the largest green space in Cairo a century ago.
