Ahmed Shawki Museum

Ahmed Shawki Museum is a museum located on the Nile in Giza, Egypt. This museum is dedicated in honor of thee Egyptian poet "the Prince of Poets"  “Ahmed Shawky”, who was living in the neighborhood of “Almatariya” in Cairo near the Palace of the Khedive Abbas Hilmi II until exiled from Egypt.

 

After returning to Egypt he built a new house in Giza, which became a museum later. The museum officially opened on June 17, 1977 there is a statue in the garden of the Museum of the great poet made of the Bronze and was built by the Egyptian artist Jamal Sajeeni.

 

Inside the museum on the ground floor at the of Pavilion Mohamed Abdel Wahab, which includes a library containing 332 books in addition to the drafts of the scripts for his poetry in his own handwriting. The upper floor contains his bedroom and his wife’s “Khadija Chahine”. There is also another room upstairs in where you will find more than 750 manuscript draft and a collection of paintings, artifacts and images that relate to the life of Ahmed Shawki.
