During the reign of Alexander the Great, the temple was built on a site visited by Alexander the Great during one of his trips to consult a priest “Amnon” in Siwa Oasis. This temple, which is located at a distance of 5 km west “Al Bawity” City contains sandstone building, and a lot of rooms created from mud and brick, which served as a shelter for the priests and senior gods.

Some historians say that Alexander the Great died in Babylon in 323 BC. AD. It is known also that his army commanders set a meeting around his deathbed and divided his empire between them , Egypt was the share of Ptolemy , the founder of the Ptolemaic Dynasty, , which ruled Egypt for nearly three centuries, and it was normal thereafter to take the necessary measures to bury Alexander, there is one story that when Alexander the Great felt that death is imminent, he asked for his body to be mummified and buried at the temple of Amun in Siwa oasis.
