Mountain of the Dead

The Mountain of the Dead is characterized by its wonderful view, located just 2 kilometers from Siwa region in the province of Mersa Matrouh. It was discovered by chance in 1944 during World War II, when the people of Siwa take shelter at the mountain and discovered the tombs in it. It is a conical mountain with a height of 50 meters and consists of limestone soil and longer serve as an archaeological cemetery. 

The Mountain of the Dead is characterized by its fascinating view from top to bottom, as it consists of tombs for the dead carved in the shape of a beehive of stone in the form of regular and consecutive rows resembles the shape of the old Oasis. 

One of the most beautiful tombs in the cemeteries is the tomb of “Si Amon”, which belongs to a one wealthy Greek man Lived in Siwa and was buried according to the religion of this region.
