Mahmoud Pasha Mosque

Mahmoud Pasha Mosque is an old Ottoman mosque located near the Eyüp Sultan Mosque in the Eyüp district of Istanbul, Turkey. it was founded in 1567, the same year of Mahmoud Pasha`s death. Mahmoud Pasha was the governor of Egypt during the Ottoman occupation; his reign lasted for less than couple of years. Today, this mosque is a congregational mosque, it is a small one built on a high ground and it is considered a suspended mosque as there are some stairs to reach the mosque. The mosque follows the Mamluk style of architecture, its facade is decorated with a stalactite cornice as well as windows arranged two beside each others and surmounted by a smaller one.
